Annual review 2022
2022 – the year in review.
After seeing each other mainly via screens in the last two years, we have returned to the office more this year. We missed the on-site collaboration - not only with each other, but also with you!Hybrid working makes us more flexible, more spontaneous and yet we don't lose sight of each other. To keep an eye on you guys as well, we traveled again for appointments and conferences. Gathering new impressions, strengthening connections and sharing thoughts, in presence and remote - that's how it should stay!
why do birds has achieved a lot this year: We launched a new website together, created the podcast Bird's View and committed to the climate-neutral implementation of our projects. Our Christmas presents have also been designed with this in mind since last year: in 2022, we will support the organization Forest Finance by sponsoring a protection forest in Peru. Our donation will create 600m² of healthy natural forest and new habitat for a whole range of plant and animal species.
2022 was also the year of interdisciplinarity for us. The close collaboration of motion design, audio branding, service design and software development make us a unique team that shows its creative strength in a variety of cross-cutting projects. And we've won a few awards for that this year. We would like to share a few of our highlight projects with you again here.
Thank you for the wonderful and trustful cooperation.
BVG audio branding
The symphony of the capital.
To be allowed to develop the sound for an entire city is a challenge with great responsibility. We were aware of this and so the project became more than just an audio project.
We were able to combine all our disciplines: Together with our service design team, we evaluated what information passengers need on their journey. Where does sound support accessibility? To match the audio branding, our motion team developed the new BVG motion design - as usual, in Berlin's best-known yellow.
Thanks to our sound strategy and audio production, the Berlin public can now listen to sounds that are as lively and positive as they are functional. And with Philippa, we have the first transgender public transport voice in the entire world.
Alexander Wodrich, why do birds»Being able to develop the sound for an entire city is something very special. Millions of passengers listen to our BVG gong sounds and our new BVG brand voice every day.«
Swiss Re audio branding
Safe and sound.
"We make the world more resilient" - that is SwissRe's vision. The sonic metaphor for resilience is very simple: the constant repetition of a single note. It forms both the starting point and finish line of all compositions and runs through the music like a constant pulse.
The new claim "Partnering for progress" is interwoven in every sound production for this client. A two-part, ascending sequence of notes: a symbol for partnership.
These two principles gave rise to a holistic audio branding, which we successfully completed in 2022 – and which finds its application in various tracks organized in a music library created especially for Swiss Re.
DR. JAN DIETRICH MÜLLER,
HEAD GROUP COMMUNICATIONS |SWISS RE MANAGEMENT LTD.»In all seriousness, the result is simply stunning and wonderful – period. The Brand Sound is now something that really sets us apart.«
Musicurve
Film scoring for all.
Good audio branding can only be really successful if it is also used. That's why we want to make it as easy as possible for our customers to use - with MusiCurve. MusiCurve makes it possible to customize brand music for any film and to change the intensity of the sound as desired. The handling of the software is child's play and intuitive, the customizable music tracks offer great creative scope and always remain brand-compliant.
jan marius bansche, team motion»For the film, it was particularly important to us that it should feel as easy to use as the tool itself. Lovingly designed illustrations, cheerful colors and a playful sound design arouse curiosity.«
Our podcast
Birds' View.
We listen to news while ironing, true crime while eating dinner, and pop culture deep dives on the way to work.
And from now on, you can also listen to why do birds even more personally - on Bird's View. In our new podcast, we'd like to once again dedicate ourselves to our projects and heartfelt topics. With as much patience and detail as they deserve.
In our first episode, we take a closer look at the development of our sound design for the fully electronic CUPRA Born . Together with our partners from the creative studio Kling Klang Klong, we discuss the sound of our cities in the future, how to create an emotional driving experience, and what a "wolf in sheep's clothing" sounds like.
