DiDi Chuxing arranges rides via app. Founded in 2012, the Chinese company has developed from a taxi app to one of the largest mobility platforms in the world. Together with MetaDesign (Beijing), we were commissioned to develop the sound for the DiDi app and an audio logo.

Clear feedback is essential for a good user experience. A specially designed notification sound should help to direct the attention of app users in the urban environment and inform them about the success of a DiDi booking. At the same time, the notification sound should strengthen the brand personality and create recognizability.

It should be as clear and simple as possible, the sound for DiDi – and fun at the same time. A short upbeat melody of pizzicato strings leads into two bright triangle notes that seem to whisper the brand name "DiDi".

The new sound signature is catchy and assertive. It can be heard more than 20 million times a day in China and is also used as an audio logo in TV commercials.
