More than just a statistic – the Zensus is Germany's largest data collection. In a series of short explanatory films, we make tangible what lies behind the Zensus.
Who are our laws made for? Do we need more schools, university places or retirement homes? Where does the state need to invest for its citizens? The census is an important basis for the federal and state governments: it records how many people live in Germany, how they live and what they do for a living. However, it is difficult to explain why it is so important and very few people really know why. In a large-scale campaign for the 2022 census, we supported the agency neues handeln in making the census tangible for everyone.
The modular, two-dimensional illustrations are particularly effective when animated - and used. On the official website and all social channels related to the 2022 Zensus, the videos vividly explain what it's all about: shaping Germany's future based on reliable data. And because after the Zensus means before the Zensus, we're happy to continue supporting the project.
Our colleagues from Audio Branding also created soundtracks for the short videos. The Zensus is often not perceived as positively as it deserves to be. We catch that: with a brisk tempo, modern instrumentation and short synthesizer pulses that sound like data points. This is how the essence of the Zensus – counting and collecting data – makes it into the music as a core principle.
