The Design of Sonic Experiences.
The College of Arts, Media and Design (CAMD) envisions itself as a community that breaks down the boundaries of traditional disciplines to bring them together to create new courses of study. In spring 2021, Boston University launched an online panel series. The goal of the Center for Design Conversation Series of events is to foster innovative points of contact between design and other disciplines. After a series of lectures in the spring, the panel series enters its second round in the fall. In the current installment, "Musical Thinking: The Design of the Sonic Experience, " sound artist/ecodesigner Mileece, IRCAM research director Nicolas Misdariis, and Alexander Wodrich, CEO and founder of why do birds were invited to participate in the panel discussion. The guests will address the question of what distinguishes musical thinking and what sound design has in common with other design methods.

The panel will be moderated by Sara Lenzi and Deirdre Loughridge. Sara Lenzi is a researcher at the Center for Design, focusing on the design of human-data experiences, which she explores primarily through the medium of sound. Deirdre Loughridge is a music historian specializing in 18th and 19th century music cultures and the history of music and technology.
